"The Good, the Bad, and the Bugly" Hackathon Design

Twice per year, Indeed hosts an internal hackathon, encouraging teams to spend 3 days developing new products and solutions. An underlying theme is decided by the Engineering department, who them comes to the Creative team for help in giving it an interesting application.

In 2017, they came to us with the concept of "fixing Indeed's internal systems". A sort of "spring cleaning" to spend a few days optimizing and streamlining the internal programs and software that had been Frankensteined together over the years.

After meeting with them, we developed the visual theme for "The Good, The Bad and the Bugly: Wrangling Indeed's Internal Systems". This cowboy/western motif was carried over into a number of visual assets, including internal monitor announcements, email banners, happy hours, and our floor-to-ceiling LED walls in the Austin office's main lobby. The lobby walls are a fun way to get people excited about the hackathon, while also providing an opportunity to sneak in some pop culture easter eggs and Indeed-specific jokes/references.
